Sick puppies

Have you heard about the new law that was passed? Maybe it's just a NC thing but, they are making kids entering 6th grade (which Sydney did) get this.
Well, this was on Tuesday. Wednesday morning when she woke up, she was running a fever of 101.5 and she had all the flu symptoms. Poor baby. By that night, even with motrin, her tempature spiked at 103.4. Yikes! So I alternated motrin and Tylanol. Today was a much better day. She was just sore a little this morning but by the end of the day she was back to her self.
Gage just has the usual cold that comes along with school. He will have it until around---April. Does anyone else have this problem? It is horrible.

I think that the DTaP booster is mandatory everywhere. Usually it is given when entering the 7th grade. It is my understanding that it is the Tetanus part of the shot that they need the most but it doesnt hurt to get the diptheria and pertussis along with it. Tyler and Kayla both got them this week. Her arm may ache a little for the next couple of days just have her use it alot to help. You might also consider the PPV, HepA, and HPV vaccines, if you havent already.

Thank you nurse Sandi!!! They also want her to get the Meningitus vaccine. What are your thoughts on this?

That is the PPV vaccine. I had Tyler and Kayla both get it. I think that it is a good idea to get this one because it is usually spread through an outbreak at school. It affects the brain and spinal cord and if not caught early can cause death. Kids can get it from using the drinking fountain at school after an infected child. Here is a good link to read about meningitis. It is very simple, written for kids. I like it better than some of the others I have read that get really technical. http://kidshealth.org/kid/health_problems/brain/meningitis.html

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
