Yesterday was the kids' dr. appt. Good News!! Their hearts are healthy. But we did discover something about Sydney. Sydney has what is called Orthostatic Intolerance. In other words she is a "fainter". Not that she faints a lot. She has only fainted 3 times since she was 3. But she has these "spells" that affect her almost daily. She almost always has either a headache, stomach ache, dizzy, nausuea, feelings of panic or feelings of extreme hot. The reason being is that she is not able to retain her sodium. The dr. told her to increase her intake of sodium and gave her a prescription to help her body retain so that these side effects go away. I hope this helps, as you can imagine, it's not easy to always have to deal with these symptoms. It's actually frustrating.
We had dinner last night with a friend of mine from school. He and his wife met us down at the waterfront in Elizabeth City. We had wonderful food!! Then we went to DQ and has an ice cream. We had such a good time. Thanks Brian and Michelle.

Tina. I have never heard of Orthostatic Intolerance before. Jeff looked it up and was floored by how the symptoms described clearly many of the undiagnosed things that I experience. What are the chances? It is such a rare thing. I am glad that Sydney has been diagnosed so young. We are going to look into this.
I am glad their heart's are healthy.
Wow... Tina, I think you just gave us an answer we've been searching and praying for.
Articles I found about OI describe Maren's history so well. I really think that this is the piece that has been missing all these years.
I don't know how they diagnosed it in Sydney, but I'm so glad they found it, for her sake. The good news is that for most people it's not a major or chronic issue. I hope that the sodium and meds help out. We sure love Sydney.
I'm really grateful that we know you guys. We love and miss you. Thank you for posting about this - I think you may have helped us out a great deal.
Jeff
