the beach and rain....

don't mix. Yesterday me and Forrest and Stephanie took the Achievement Day girls to the beach. First off, there was a code red for the smoke. It seems that everything is on fire and every county for miles and miles around are suffering from the smoke. We decided to go to the other end of the beach, no smoke, the wind must have shifted. Secondly, there was also supposed to be severe thunderstorms coming in. We figured we could see if the clouds were coming and decided to brave it. The kids swam for about 30min. Then, just as me and Stephanie got settled in our chair with a good gossip magazine, we felt tiny little rain drops!!! We decided that we better head back to the cars. Do you have any idea how much stuff 9 kids can take to the beach? Well, we got in the cars just in time for the bottom to drop out. We went to the rest stop and sat under an awning/picnic table and had lunch. It rained so dang hard!!! We had a blast. As they were talking about how wet they were getting (forgetting that they were wet from the ocean to begin with) I reminded them of the pioneers crossing to the Salt Lake Vally. They didn't have a choice but to walk in the rain or snow with no shoes! I thought I could interject a lesson in there somewhere. Put things into perspective. It was a good day over all.
